You’ve likely heard of the powerful ChatGPT, a tool that harnesses the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) to do some truly incredible things, like generate answers to your pressing questions, write poems, create blog posts, and even code.

Digital marketing is one of the best uses of the platform, as, by using the right ChatGPT marketing prompts, you can expedite your most tedious activities, allowing you to concentrate on more pressing matters.

If you’re not sure how to implement ChatGPT into your marketing strategies, we can help. We’ve compiled a list of ChatGPT marketing prompts you can benefit from, so let’s get started!

  1. Generate Email Subject Lines

You probably have a list of users that are subscribed to your email promotions or newsletters. These customers expect to hear from your brand regularly, so creating emails is a task you most likely devote considerable time to each week. However, coming up with fresh ideas for your email subject lines isn’t always easy. After all, there are only so many ways to describe your flash sale or current 40% discount on clearance items.

That’s where ChatGPT comes in. Using ChatGPT, you won’t need to spend much energy creating email subject lines. Instead, you can offload the task to your helpful ChatGPT bot, which can develop the compelling subject lines you need in just a few seconds. To start the process, you’ll need to describe the purpose of your email in a ChatGPT prompt and include information about its contents.

Here’s an example:

“I need you to create a subject line for my promotional email. The email is for a 25% discount on all men’s and women’s running shoes through Friday through my store, Athletic Wear. The subject line should be less than ten words and convey enthusiasm and scarcity of the shoes to the recipient.”

You’ll note that the prompt includes specific information, such as the store’s name, the discount you’re offering, what is on sale, and the exact length of the needed subject line. It also includes instructions for the tone to convey the subject. You don’t have to limit ChatGPT to a single subject line, either. You can ask for five or ten email subject lines so you have a few to choose between.

  1. Create Product Descriptions

If you own an e-commerce store, it’s likely that you often list dozens, hundreds, or thousands of products for sale at once, and as you probably know, crafting new product descriptions for each of those is tedious and time-consuming. You’ll want to emphasize the benefits of your products to your customers, but you don’t want to replicate descriptions you use for other merchandise on your website.

ChatGPT can make the creation of a wealth of product descriptions a straightforward process. You won’t need to spend much time crafting the correct narrative for your products; instead, you’ll rely on ChatGPT to provide you with what you need.

Let’s look at a hypothetical example: There is an office supplies store called Paper Goods, which has a website it uses to sell its products online. Since Paper Goods has thousands of items available online, writing descriptions for all of them can be quite labor-intensive, so the store’s marketing team turns to ChatGPT to help create product descriptions for the notebook.

They come up with the following prompt, which describes the notebook in detail, including its size, format, and available colors while also indicating the proposed length of the product description and its tone:

“I need a product description for a college-ruled notebook with 100 sheets. It’s wire-bound, size 8 x 10 ½ inches. Describe who can benefit from the notebook and its various features, including the colors available, which are blue, purple, red, green, and black. The tone of the product description is informative and should be in bullet-point format with a maximum of 100 words.”

The output from ChatGPT will reflect the limitations the marketer places on the tool.

  1. Ask for a List of Keywords Concerning a Topic

Using keywords should be part of your SEO strategy to drive organic traffic to your website. Unlike paid advertisements and other marketing strategies, organic traffic is free, and it can prove to be a lucrative source of revenue.

You’ll want to incorporate SEO to reduce your reliance on paid ads, which can be a significant drag on your advertising budget, and most marketers understand the pain of keyword research that comes from planning their content strategies.

Plenty of tools exist on the market that can make the process easier, but they’re expensive, and some come with steep learning curves that you’ll need to overcome to achieve the best results. Thankfully, you can ask ChatGPT to provide a list of keywords relevant to a topic you’re developing content for.

Let’s consider a fictional example: Jenna runs a personal finance website that helps young adults understand the basic principles of money, and she’s writing a new blog concerning saving money on groceries. To better optimize her content for SEO, she turns to ChatGPT for help, inputting the following prompt:

“I am writing a blog about saving money on grocery shopping. The blog is 1,000 words and lists ten ways to save money at the grocery store. My audience is young adults between the ages of 18 and 30. Can you tell me what SEO keywords I should target to get the most traffic to my website for this post?”

Jenna’s ChatGPT marketing prompt is clear and instructive. She tells the bot that she’s trying to increase traffic to her website through her grocery store savings posts, and she also provides additional information, such as her target audience and basic details about the article’s contents.

In such a case, ChatGPT will respond with a list of helpful keywords that will help Jenna rank higher in the search engine results, and she can even ask ChatGPT how many times she should use each keyword for better results.

  1. Write a B2B Cold Sales Email

Drafting email copy for cold sales in the B2B sector is time-consuming and challenging., as it is fairly likely that you don’t know much about the person you’re emailing or their company’s needs.

In other words, you’re attempting to form a connection with someone based on a single email that they may or may not even read. ChatGPT can help you overcome the creative block by drafting cold sales emails. You’ll specify your criteria and let ChatGPT do the heavy lifting.

Let’s look at an example: Craig is a sales associate for an enterprise resource planning (ERP) company called TechTrucks, which provides system solutions to businesses in the transportation sector. One of his sales strategies involves sending cold emails to individuals he finds through LinkedIn who appear to be decision-makers for the transportation companies they work for.

However, writing new sales copy is often tiresome, and Craig has many other responsibilities, so Craig turns to ChatGPT for assistance with his sales emails. He asks the bot to write a sales copy email using the following prompt:

“Write a sales email to Anna Hamilton, the CEO of Nevada Trucks, advertising the ERP solution available from TechTrucks. Include several benefits of an ERP system that can specifically aid Nevada Trucks. Include a short CTA asking Anna to call me to schedule a demo. The email should be less than 250 words and have an enthusiastic tone.”

With the prompt he provided, Craig will gain a personalized sales copy email without needing to handle the research and writing himself. He can review the output from ChatGPT and edit it for additional personalization or ask for further revisions.

Best Practices for ChatGPT Marketing Prompts

When creating marketing prompts for ChatGPT, keep the following few tips in mind:

Understand Your Objectives

You’re unlikely to see results from ChatGPT if you don’t fully define your goals. Make sure that you understand what it is you need and convey that to the bot. Remember, ChatGPT can’t replace every marketing tool you have. It has its limitations, which you’ll discover as you work with it.

Start Small

Before handling your major processes over to ChatGPT, see how well it performs with minor tasks, like product descriptions and email subject lines. You can perform A/B testing for both tasks, comparing the results of the bot’s idea with a human’s, which will help you learn where ChatGPT is useful and where your marketing strategy better benefits without the bot’s intervention.

Be Clear

The more information you provide to ChatGPT, the more your results will align with your expectations. Vague instructions will lead to an output that’s unsuitable for your needs. Make sure to specify criteria such as the topic, length, audience, and tone of voice to gain the most back from ChatGPT.

Don’t Forget to Edit

At its base, ChatGPT is a large language model (LLM) that relies on data and patterns to create an output. It doesn’t understand the meaning behind that output, and it lacks the capacity for human judgment. Thus, you shouldn’t trust the output of ChatGPT to be accurate. Make sure to fully edit the content to ensure accuracy before using it in your marketing strategies.

ChatGPT Can Eliminate Some Tedious Marketing Activities

We’ve only mentioned a few of the ways you can incorporate ChatGPT marketing prompts into your advertising strategy, but there are thousands of uses for the platform; the only limitation is your creativity. When using ChatGPT, remember to be as exact as possible. The more specific your prompts are, the more effective you’ll find the tool to be.
